“Money can’t buy life”. Those were the final words of Bob Marley, spoken to his son Ziggy.
There is truth to that quote. People are living more comfortable lives than ever before, but happiness remains the hardest-to-find component of life, and what is a life if void of happiness? Happiness is not about money – all the money and things in the world would not guarantee your happiness. Just take a realistic look at Hollywood.
Although I am still too young to speak from years of wisdom gained through experiences, I can however say what has made my life worth living and they are as follows – Helping others, connecting with the world around you, finding joy in what you do for a living, having direction and a purpose, music, the arts, literature, silence, time to do what you love, good conversation, coffee, nature, swimming, laughter, community, good health and most importantly family and love. Looking back on my life so far, it was the times where I had little money that were oddly enough the moments where I have experienced the most joy.
Final thought – What point is there in devoting one’s life solely to the pursuit of money, if it leaves your character void of any real substance and robs you of your joy?

Aakash Nihalani selectively places multicolored tape around the city of New York in hopes that it will offer New Yorkers a momentary escape from their routine schedules and lives. ” I try to create a new space within the existing spaces of our everyday world for people to enter freely, and unexpectedly ‘disconnect’ from their reality.” Very cool.

I have always hated Sunday evenings because although it is still the weekend, Monday is right around the corner. I dread Mondays. So for all of you who find yourselves returning to the daily grind, I have posted a few images that I find calming to help lift the mood. Have a great week.
What a beautiful planet we live on! Anything and everything I have and will ever experience has all taken place on this planet and without it, it would all cease to exist – we would cease to exist. Hopefully we can learn to honor and value our fragile planet so that future generations will have a place they can call home.
In honor of our planet Earth, l have posted this video featuring scenes from around New Zealand, set to the music of one of my favorite artists Ulrich Schnauss.

Today I pleasantly stumbled upon the colorful artwork of mixed media artist Brandi Strickland. Viewing her artwork, particularly her Technicolor series, makes me smile. Have a wonderful day! p>

I am in love with the oversaturated colors and futuristic landscapes captured in photographer Ryan McGinley’s series titled Moonmilk.
Inspired by childhood stories, Biblical endeavours and the spirit of adventure, McGinley and his team took off to explore the wild caves of North America. Responding to the natural elements, McGinley used a long exposure to create the kaleidoscopic color effects, inspired by the crystalline deposits that grow on the cave walls – the Moonmilk.
Gold Panda is melancholy electronic music to live by. London producer and former record shop employee Derwin is obsessed with Japanese culture and the dusty old records and VHS tapes and it is apparent. You can bet that on any given day spent in the office I will be listening to them for some time to come. Enjoy!

Since I was a child I have always loved looking at old photographs. There is something about the grainy quality of film and the colors in old photos that I adore. I remember looking through the old pictures in our family photo album and seeing pictures of my parents when they were young. I remember a particular set of photos of my mother in a vintage striped bikini sporting a ‘Farah Fawcett’ hairstyle at the beach and my aunt Karen in a denim romper. In those photos they looked like pin-up models and I was fascinated by them.
The above images are part of Foam magazine’s May issue editorial titled “Bathing Beauties”, featuring vintage swimsuits selected by Fashion Editor Djuna Bel.

I can’t believe that these are not photographs!
Simon Hennessey is a hyper realist painter based out of Birmingham who specializes in portraiture and the human figure. His larger than life works of art are truly awe-inspiring!
